About this video

Guwahati, Assam: Cities across Assam are facing ongoing waterlogging issues, especially during the rainy season, causing serious concerns among residents. Roads become impassable, homes get submerged, and public life is disrupted. In cities like Guwahati, the situation worsens with each spell of heavy rain. APCC General Secretary Bipul Gogoi commented on the waterlogging issue in the city, saying, "I urge the government to focus on proper recovery plans rather than only launching beneficiary schemes, so that the people of Guwahati don’t have to face such problems in the future." Minister Pijush Hazarika said, "In the past four years, we have made significant progress. Earlier, our department used to spend only ₹200 to ₹300 crore annually on flood control. But now, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, we are spending nearly ₹2000 crore each year to manage and reduce the impact of floods."
