How to Model a Ramp in SketchUp 🚧
Creating a ramp in SketchUp is simple and can be done using different tools depending on the design. Below are four methods to create ramps:
Method 1: Using the Push/Pull Tool (Basic Ramp)
Select the Rectangle Tool (R) and draw a base for the ramp.
Use the Line Tool (L) to draw the height of the ramp on one side.
Use the Move Tool (M) to lift one edge of the rectangle to the desired slope.
Use the Push/Pull Tool (P) to extend the ramp to the desired length.
Method 2: Using the Rotate Tool (Simple Incline)
Draw a rectangle for the ramp base.
Select the Move Tool (M), then press Up Arrow Key to lock movement in the blue axis.
Lift one side of the ramp to create an incline.
Method 3: Creating a Curved Ramp (Using the Follow Me Tool)
Draw the Path: Use the Arc Tool (A) to create the ramp curve.
Draw the Ramp Profile: Create a small rectangle on the starting edge.
Use Follow Me Tool:
Select the Follow Me Tool (Shift + F).
Click the rectangle and drag it along the curve to generate the ramp.
Method 4: Using the Sandbox Tool (For Complex Ramps & Terrain)
Enable Sandbox Tools from Window Extension Warehouse Install Sandbox Tools.
Go to Tools Sandbox From Scratch.
Create a Terrain Grid and use the Smoove Tool to shape a natural ramp.
Final Touches
✅ Smooth the ramp using Eraser Tool (E) + Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac).
✅ Apply textures using the Paint Bucket Tool (B).
✅ Add railings using the Push/Pull Tool or components from the 3D Warehouse.
