A surprising encounter in a supermarket parking lot as a large moose tries to snatch sweet potatoes from a woman's trolley. Read about this wild moment!
About this video
A massive moose approached a woman unpacking her shopping and tried to steal sweet potatoes from her trolley.
Amber Rotar had just finished her weekly shop at Costco in Anchorage, Alaska, USA, on February 10 when a huge male appeared next to her car.
Amazing footage shows the moose stood just metres away from Amber before it stuck its mouth in her trolley and attempted to eat through a bag of sweet potatoes.
Due to heavy snowfall in the area, food sources have been scarce for the wild animals, which has caused them to venture closer to humans.
Amber said: “I was born and raised in Alaska, so I'm used to seeing moose all over – at the roadside, on trails, in the yard – but never quite so close without a wall or a window separating us.
“Fortunately he wasn't displaying any aggression, so I wasn't fearful as much as experiencing a healthy dose of apprehension.
“I was more impatient than anything, as I was there for my business and he was making me run behind schedule.
“He was stood there for some time before I even decided to take the video, maybe five minutes in total.
“He was particularly interested in the sweet potatoes and bell peppers but he was unable to remove anything, as they were all bagged.
“I did offer to give a bag of sweet potatoes to the Costco manager following him around the parking lot, but he kindly reminded me that feeding wild animals is illegal.”
