Discover how dedicated factory workers spent 16 hours creating a massive mosaic of King Charles using 3,000 small carpet pieces, showcasing incredible craftsmanship and patience.
About this video
A giant mosaic of King Charles has been created by factory workers using 3,000 tiny squares of CARPET.
Staff spent 16 hours painstakingly gluing the 3cm x 3cm patches together to form the portrait of His Majesty.
The 13ft high artwork was done by workers at Victoria Carpets of Kidderminster in time for the Coronation weekend.
Debbie Turvey, from the firm, said staff were inspired by Turkish artist Deniz Sagdic who posted his work on Instagram.
Staff pixelated an image of King Charles III which they then used to match up with coloured carpet squares.
It is not the first time the company has had a brush with royalty – in 2013 the firm supplied the red carpet for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
Debbie said: “We’re very proud of our royal connection here at Victoria, and when we started this project, we had no idea it would turn out so well.
“We’ve been overwhelmed at seeing people’s reaction to it, from walking past us as we stuck tiny pieces of carpet onto a much larger backing carpet, to finally seeing the finished effect.
"We’re not sure how best to display the finished mosaic, but it ideally needs a large space to show it off to its optimum effect, as it is best viewed from a bit of a distance.”
