En août 2020, le chanteur Akon posait la première pierre d’une smart city, à 90 km au sud de Dakar. Ce projet avait suscité un fort enthousiasme au Sénégal, où il a bénéficié du soutien initial des autorités et notamment du chef de l’État, Macky Sall. Mais les travaux n’ont toujours pas commencé.
