PM expected to announce steps to boost cybersecurity in Budget 2023, Dewan Rakyat told

Fahmi Fadzil has expressed the need for state governments and government agencies in the country to allocate a certain amount of their budget for cybersecurity as part of the efforts to avoid data loss.

The Communications and Digital Minister said in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Feb 23), and hoped that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will emphasise cybersecurity aspects in the tabling of Budget 2023 on Friday.

Apart from that, Fahmi said the government was also re-examining the country's cryptography policy to streamline aspects of data security in the country, involving quantum cryptography that would make encryption, which is the key to data security,  more difficult.
