About this video
Indian laws allow decryption, so Facebook and Whatsapp cannot dust their hands off this legal obligation. This was the argument by the government before the Supreme Court as it pushes the global tech companies to decrypt certain text messages and share them with investigating agencies. However, Facebook and Whatsapp firmly opposed this argument saying they do not have a "master-key" to decrypt information and called this an issue of fundamental rights of citizens. To discuss this CNBC-TV18 spoke to Udbhav Tiwari Public Policy Adviser of Mozilla and Nikhil Pahwa Founder of MediaNama.
