The BJP has demanded an thorough probe in the case, adding that impartial action should be taken without any political pressure.
BJP state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai will meet the family members of the victim today. He is expected to be accompanied by other party leaders from the region including Sangeet Som, who was earlier booked in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riots.
Party spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak alleged that the incident was the result of official laxity and apathy.
"People have to take to streets to get FIR registered in rape and other cases in the state. In Kharkahuda incident, the family members managed to get an FIR registered after nine hours," alleged.
