About this video
#VxLAN technical deep dive! VxLAN creates virtual layer-2 networks in an overlay network. They are called VNI’s. During encapsulation, the VTEP adds extra headers, using a specific frame format. This is to pass this traffic over the underlay network in a tunnel, using routing.
In this training video, we’re going beyond the basic concepts, in a deep dive look at the #encapsulation process, and the headers that VxLAN use. The VxLAN vs #VLAN differences are further explained here.
We’ll consider some more VxLAN terminology, and provide a primer to the VxLAN packet flow.

Part 1: Fundamentals - An introduction or primer into the basic concepts and terminology. For example, VxLAN vs VLAN, and host vs gateway. https://youtu.be/YNqKDI_bnPM
Part 2: Header Format - Follow the packet flow to see the headers added to a frame.
Part 3: Spine Leaf Topology - Looks at the hierarchical architecture, and compares it to the newer spine leaf topology.
