Energy Tech Building — AECOM breaks the boundaries of engineering at the University of Nottingham

AECOM developed pioneering technology that maximizes energy and minimizes demand for heating, cooling and ventilation.

“We were asked to break the boundaries of engineering and, according to the client, we did,” said AECOM’s Aleksandra Sasha Krstanovic, regional director, building engineering and project director, for recent work at the University of Nottingham.

Set to become an internationally significant hub for energy research and low-carbon technologies, the university's Energy Technologies Building (ETB) needed to remain within a limited cost budget and meet two ambitious energy goals — to become the world’s first zero-carbon operational laboratory and to achieve a BREEAM “Outstanding” rating, the highest possible level.
