In today's lesson, we will cover some useful sentences to use in a restaurant. They will be part of a dialog and will help you to order, get your bill and do different kind of things around a restaurant.
"May I have a glass of water?": Very common expression. Many places in Canada don't give you a glass of water unless you ask and everybody wants a glass of water, right?
"I'd like my steak medium rare please": This sentence is mostly to teach you the way to get your cooking right in English. Here they are in order: Blue/Rare/medium rare/Medium/ Medium well-done/ Well done with Blue being barely cooked at all and Well-done being nearly black.
"I'd like to look at the dessert menu": Menus are generally given to you as you come in, but not always so for dessert menus. Here's how to ask so you can soothe your sweet tooth.
"May I have the bill please?": Gestures usually accompany a sentence like that, but, interestingly, they vary greatly from country to country and even region to region. You might get the circle or square in the air or the signature in the air
"Separate/together": We can use this to talk about people, but we can also refer to the bill, whether is all on one bill (together) or a bill per person (separate or "go dutch").
