Turkish Mayor Accuses NMA of Controlling Protesters: Is Melih Gökçek Correct?

Melih Gökçek is Turkey's foremost character actor. When he isn't constructing fountains or TWEETING IN CAPITAL LETTERS, he plays a bit part as the mayor of Ankara. Since July of this year, the mayor has taken a special interest in Next Media Animation. What might we have done to attract his highness' attention? Is he an especially enthusiastic fan of short form animation? Does he wish the Weather Girls would come back? No, it wasn't quite either of those. The mayor noticed a strong correlation between the content of our earlier animations about the June protests in Turkey and actual events that later took place. In the first one, prime minister Tayyip Erdoğan puts on a sultan's hat, personally delivers triplets, kidnaps a penguin in a chef's hat, and takes a boat to Morocco. To a lazier mind, that sequence of events might not trigger any red flags, but to a sharp wit like that of Melih Gökçek, the pattern was unmistakable.

Within days of the first animation, events depicted in the cartoon started coming true. Soccer fans from competing clubs uniting in Gezi park? True! Animated penguin with a cleaver exactly 1 day before some nut with a machete started attacking protesters? True! The penguin goes to Morocco in the animation, and where does the crazy AKP supporting knife guy run off to? Morocco! We even had an animated version of Standing Man the same day that the event happened. How could NMA have been so quick if we weren't secretly pulling strings in the protester community from abroad?

How does NMA respond to the mayor's tinfoil hat conspiracy theories? You caught us! It's all true! Curses! And we would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for that meddling Melih Gökçek! Well, now that our cover has been blown, there's only one thing left to do. Implement the Fountain Protocol. All animated sleeper cells are hereby activated. Your one final task, you brave pixelated patriots, is to go through Ankara street by street, and rape every single fountain. You haven't heard the last of us Gökçek!
