After World War II ended, the conditions of the United States and Japan were completely opposite.
America grew even stronger. Its economy boomed thanks to the massive profits from its war industry, and its territory remained untouched by the war. In fact, the U.S. emerged as a new global superpower.

Meanwhile, Germany and Japan were left in ruins. Berlin and two Japanese cities—Hiroshima and Nagasaki—were devastated, with the latter two being leveled by atomic bombs. Infrastructure was severely damaged, the economy collapsed, and the people suffered greatly.

In addition, Japan had to face a bitter reality: it lost the war and was occupied by the United States under military rule until 1952.
Germany, on the other hand, was divided into two: West Germany controlled by the Western Bloc, and East Germany by the Eastern Bloc, a division that lasted until 1990.
