WiFi Hacking with Wifite: Capture WPA2 Handshakes

Wireless hacking demonstration using Wifite in Kali 2019.3 to scan for wireless networks and then capture the WPA2 4-way handshake of selected networks.

Steps performed:

Put NIC in monitoring mode:

ip link set wlan0 down
iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
ip link set wlan0 up

Add tools for Wifite:

apt install pyrit
apt install hcxdumptool

Run Wifite:

wifite

After you capture handshakes, the next step is to convert the captured handshake files from .cap to .hccapx, then crack them with a took like Hashcat.

Use 15+ character passphrases to avoid having your Wireless passphrases cracked.
