After Deimos was killed by Thanatos, Kratos carried his brother’s body. Then, the mysterious gravedigger appeared once again, it was actually Zeus in disguise. Zeus knew Kratos was still haunted by his past and the death of his family, including Deimos. By helping bury Deimos, Zeus symbolically tied Kratos to his own past, so that one day those nightmares and sins could be used against him. Even though Zeus was Kratos’s enemy, he still showed respect to Deimos, maybe because Deimos was also of Olympian blood. In the end, it was all part of Zeus’s plan, a manipulation for the future.
