The original video, before the rotoscoping, was sourced from Chinese social media, coming from the short-form video influencer Xiucai ("秀才"), showing him lip dubbing the song "Sweet Love" by Chen Yujian & Wang Yuxin ("甜蜜愛情" by 陈玉建 & 王语心). Covering his mouth to hold a laugh was one of his signature moves.
