Who Is Saad Rizvi? Pakistan Burns As TLP Leader Reportedly Shot During Pro-Palestine Protests

Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore was thrown into chaos on Monday as police clashed with supporters of the hardline Islamist party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) during an anti-Israel march. Streets turned into battle zones. Vehicles burned. The city came to a standstill as the group tried to march toward Islamabad, ignoring government orders. Saad Hussain Rizvi, 31, is the leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, a far-right Islamist political party founded by his father, the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi, in 2015. When his father died in 2020, Saad, who was then a little-known cleric, quickly took over the party's leadership. Since then, he has turned TLP into one of Pakistan's most disruptive and politically influential movements.
