When Saddam Faced The Shah of Iran! 🔥🔥🔥

In March 1975, during an OPEC summit in Algiers, Saddam Hussein, then Vice President of Iraq, and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, shook hands in what became one of the most iconic moments in Middle Eastern history.

This handshake sealed the Algiers Agreement, ending years of tension over the Shatt al-Arab waterway. Iraq conceded territory, while Iran agreed to stop supporting Kurdish rebels inside Iraq. But just five years later, Saddam tore up the agreement on live TV and invaded Iran, igniting the brutal eight-year Iran-Iraq War that claimed over a million lives.
