Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha's film Khoon Pasina (1977), made on a budget of around 80 lakh rupees, was a box office hit, earning 2.5 crore rupees. However, its release was banned in Himachal Pradesh during assembly elections because the villain's name, Jaalim Singh, coincided with a candidate's name. The candidate feared negative impact and appealed to the Election Commission, which delayed the film's release in the region. Kader Khan played the role of Jaalim Singh, marking his debut as a villain in films.
