What's new in Windows 11 Insider builds 22623.730 and 22621.730

About this video

The Beta Channel split continues, and more features are finally here after two months of bugfixes.

The Beta Channel's split is slightly changing - some Insiders will receive build 22623.730, others will receive 22621.730. 'But what about 22622?' - if you were on 22622, you automatically continue testing the latest features with build 22623. 22622's purpose was to test features for 'Moment 1' (the October feature drop/mini feature update), which is now feature complete and will release sometime next month as an optional update. Features added to build 22623 will release in February/March next year as another 'feature drop' - build 22623 tests out 'Moment 2' features.

Build 22623 has features enabled by default whereas 22621 has them disabled by default. Build 22623.730 introduces the tablet optimized taskbar and new system tray, first reintroduced to the Dev Channel earlier this month. In addition, File Explorer search has received some improvements, including live search (the search results page updates as you type, and you no longer need to press Enter to search) and cloud file search results improvements when searching from the Home page. These are only rolling out to a few Insiders.

And some hidden features as well - three new designs for the search button are present (brought over from the Dev Channel), and an early implementation of drag and drop (rearranging) for icons in the new system tray is present (officially, this is only rolling out in Dev build 25211 - therefore you can't rearrange icons in the new system tray *officially* in 22623).
