NASA is known for space exploration. From landing humans on the Moon to sending rovers to Mars, the agency has spent decades pushing the boundaries of what’s possible beyond our planet. But in recent years, NASA has turned its attention to this last frontier—one that’s much closer to home. The Hadal zones’ – deep underwater extreme and inhospitable conditions of the depths.

It might seem strange for NASA to dive into the ocean. But when you think about it, the parallels are hard to ignore. The deep oceans are a place of extreme atmospheric pressure, freezing temperatures, and total darkness—conditions that are somewhat similar to those found in outer space.

It was once thought nothing could survive in such places. But what surprised everyone was that even the deep ocean is teeming with life thriving in conditions that was once thought impossible. Creatures that glow in the dark, survive extreme pressure, and live in complete darkness. NASA’s interest is finding the same kind of life that could be lurking on other planets or moons, like Saturn’s moon ‘Titan’ which has an underground ocean that could sustain life.
