About this video
What is the main diagonal of a matrix? The main diagonal of a matrix is sometimes called the major diagonal, principal diagonal, or leading diagonal, and we go over it in today's math video lesson!
Notice that each entry in a matrix can be identified specifically by a row and a column. The main diagonal of the matrix is the collection of entries that are in the same number row and column. As in, first row and first column, second row and second column, and so on.
Entries in matrices are sometimes written generically as a_ij, where ij is a subscript, i is the row number of an entry and j is the column number of an entry. Then the main diagonal is the collection of entries a_ij where i = j. Check out the full video lesson for more details!

The outro music is by a favorite musician of mine named Vallow, who, upon my request, kindly gave me permission to use his music in my outros. I usually put my own music in the outros, but I love Vallow's music, and wanted to share it with those of you watching. Please check out all of his wonderful work.
