Remembrance Day is a national holiday in Canada and in all Commonwealth nations; these are the countries that represent the Allied Powers of the First World War, fighting against Germany and its allies, known as the Central Powers. It is a day of commemoration and remembrance of all the members of the armed forces who lost their lives in order to keep Canada and the wider world safe.
