What Is Liposuction? A Quick Overview

Liposuction is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries in the world. Although it is considered a simple procedure, it requires good preoperative planning and not everybody is a candidate for the procedure. With this technique, it provides an improved shape of your body by removing unwanted or excess fat in target areas. Liposuction can be done as a freestanding procedure, with no need to be combined with other surgeries. In liposuction a small incision is made, measuring approximately 2 to 5 mm depending on the tube called a cannula that is used. The surgeon then injects a fluid to control bleeding, and anesthesia is required during the procedure. A cannula connected to a suction tube is inserted and the fat is then removed with a back and forth motion. When the contour is satisfactory, the surgeon stops the procedure.
