What Is Adware? How It Works & Is It Legal?

What is adware, or what is advertising-supported software? How does it work and who creates this software? Are adware software legal?

First of all to better understanding it's important to give the term adware a difinition. According to Microsoft Encyclopedia of Security :
advertising-supported software aka 'adware' is any software that installs itself on your system without your knowledge and displays advertisements when the user surfs the Internet", i.e., a form of malware.

The term adware is frequently used to describe a form of malware which pops up unwanted advertisements to the user of a PC.

The advertisements produced by adware are sometimes in "unclosable window" which causes too much troubles with closing it.

In legitimate software, adwares are integrated into or bundled with the program. Adware is usually seen by the developer as a way to recover development costs and in fact to generate revenue.
