Understanding Internet Speeds 🌐

Anyone else confused by download speeds and storage? 😅

Back in the day I remember hearing about gigabit internet and was so excited because I thought it would allow me to download movies and games in less than 10 seconds over WiFi 😅 until I learned what bits and bytes actually are.

As internet speeds get faster I do think it’s perhaps more useful to use bytes instead of bits to measure, but I understand it’s not as accurate.

One thing to remember is that you almost never always get the advertised download speeds that your ISP tells you, since it can be influenced my many factors such as your router and how many people in your area are online at the same time. But hopefully one day we can reach GB speeds.

Do you think it’s all a marketing tactic?
