About this video
The Danakil Depression in Ethiopia is one of the hottest, driest, and lowest places on Earth. It is also often called the Cruelest place on Earth because it has an average temperature of 48 degrees and goes all the way up to 55 degrees making it impossible to survive there. The Danakil Depression has surreal landscapes, including salt flats, hot springs, sulphur pools, volcanoes and cracked earth - all of which we were lucky to witness.
What we did NOT expect to see was Bolivia like landscapes because of the rains. The Danakil only receives 100-200 millimetres of rain annually which is soooo little!! We were told that the Red Sea which is close to the borders of Djibouti flooded cuz of rains and that in turn flooded the salt flats causing these insane reflections!!! We did NOT expect to see this incredible sunrise and what made it even more special was that it happened on Ethiopian New Years! 🥹❤️
Just MAGIC all around. ✨
