What does an HR Generalist do? The HR Generalist is a person with a broad range of responsibilities instead of a specialized line of work. They are responsible for the day-to-day management of human resources operations, and the role is largely tactical, covering a wide range of functions, including recruitment, training, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. An HR Generalist usually reports directly to the HR Manager, and in some cases, also requires managing people under them -- usually an HR Assistant.
