The Muhajirun who lost homes and assets for one reason only, loyalty to Allah and His Messenger. The Ansar who were settled in their city and in faith yet loved the migrants, felt no envy over what they were given, and preferred others even while struggling themselves. Then there is us, those who come later. Our first work is to ask Allah’s forgiveness, to pray for those who came before with iman, and to keep our hearts free of resentment toward any believer. The Quran lowers the noise of rivalry and raises the standard of sincerity. If you cannot rebuild what the first generations built, at least do no harm to the house they raised.
