Rachel Reeves' Landlord Tax Hike & UK Property Market 🏠

Rachel Reeves is considering a tax increase for UK landlords in this year’s Autumn budget as she attempts to fill a forty billion pound hole in the public finances.

The proposals, which would apply national insurance to property income, would raise around two billion pounds for the Treasury.

Officials are drawing up multiple options for tax rises in an attempt to avoid breaking the “red lines” set by Reeves before the general election, where she promised to not raise taxes for ‘working people’.

Experts, however, have wanted that changes may have 'severe' unintended consequences for the rental sector and the broader housing market.
