Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe Challenges Suspension Efforts in High Court

Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe has filed an urgent High Court application in an effort that a recommendation by the Judicial Service Commission for a possible suspension and finally an impeachment by the National Assembly be reviewed and set aside. In April this year, Judge President Hlophe was found guilty of gross misconduct by the Judicial Conduct Tribunal for trying to convince two judges, Constitutional Court Justices Bess Nkabinde and Chris Jafta to rule in favour of then president Jacob Zuma during his 2008 corruption trial.
