Diffusion
The spreading out of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Osmosis
The diffusion of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a dilute solution to a more concentrated solution.

Active Transport
The movement of substances against a concentration gradient, requiring energy from respiration.

Mitosis
A type of cell division that produces two genetically identical daughter cells for growth and repair.

Pathogen
A microorganism that causes disease (e.g., bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protists).

Enzyme
A biological catalyst that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up.

Photosynthesis
The process by which green plants and algae use light energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen.
Equation: 6CO₂ + 6H₂O → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

Respiration
The process of transferring energy from the breakdown of glucose, which occurs in every living cell.

Stem Cell
An undifferentiated cell capable of giving rise to more cells of the same type or to specialized cells.

Communicable Disease
