Leading the NYC race is Zoran Momdani, a Democratic socialist who could become the city’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor. Also running: former Governor Andrew Cuomo, now an independent backed by President Trump, and Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels.

Other key contests include governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey and California’s Proposition 50, which could redraw congressional maps.
