Virat Kohli announced his decision to retire from Test cricket, on May 12. There has been reports doing the rounds in recent times of Virat Kohli communicating his decision to step away from the longest format of the game to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and he made it official with a post on Instagram where he shared an emotional note for fans. Virat Kohli thus retires as one of the greatest Indian players to have featured in the format. In 123 Tests, Virat Kohli scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. He hit 30 Test centuries and 30 half-centuries. Virat Kohli's last Test was against Australia in Sydney in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Virat Kohli is also India's most successful Test captain, having led the side to 40 wins in 68 Test matches before stepping down from that role in 2022. <br />
