About this video

Valve destroyed Counter-Strike 2 cosmetic market with no warning.

The most recent CS2 update included one of the biggest changes to the game in recent memory, as they “extended the functionality” of the game’s Trade Up Contract, allowing players to convert 5 Covert items, aka “reds,” into a gold item, aka a knife or a glove.

With an easier way to get the rarest items in the game, the CS2 economy was thrown into chaos. Previously worthless red skins shot up in price, while many of the most expensive knives plummeted in value. Players like Olofmeister had their entire CS2 go from $58k to $18k, and overnight, it’s reported that the game’s skin economy crashed by $2 billion.

However, that’s not to say this is a bad thing. For most players, this update is an opportunity to finally own a knife or gloves to use in-game. And for those who might not have touched CS2 in a long time, it may be a good time to check those inventories again cause you might be able to make some good money getting rid of some skins!
