UST prevails over Ateneo in triple OT

University of Santo Tomas outlasted Ateneo de Manila, 98-89, in an epic match that lasted for three overtimes in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym on Oct. 11, 2025. The Growling Tigers proved steadier in the third overtime as they limited the Blue Eagles to just four points while scoring 13 to put the game away. Nic Cabañero pumped 22 points and 11 rebounds while Collins Akowe amassed 20 markers and 19 boards to lead UST, which now shares the top spot with the NU Bulldogs at 4-1. Jared Bahay fired 17 points, six assists, and three rebounds to pace the Blue Eagles, who suffered their second straight loss and dropped to 4-2 for third place.
