Nigerian federal workers, under the Federal Workers Forum (FWF), have declared a nationwide protest set to begin Monday, May 26, 2025, accusing President Bola Tinubu's administration of betrayal, repression, and neglect. The workers are demanding the immediate payment of five months’ arrears of the N35,000 wage award promised since March 2024 to offset the harsh effects of subsidy removal. Despite repeated assurances from the Accountant General and Finance Minister, no payments have materialized. The FWF, led by Comrades Andrew Emelieze, Itoro Obong, and Razaq Yakubu Oseni, slammed the government for systemic neglect and vowed to protest daily at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja until all outstanding wages, including promotion arrears and hazard allowances, are cleared. The group warned of indefinite nationwide protests starting May 28 if demands remain unmet. “We are citizens, not slaves,” they declared, urging all federal workers to stand united in what they call a fight for survival.
