Unlocking Children's Potential: The Key Prerequisites to Mathematical Automaticity 🧮

About this video

What are the PRE-Prerequisites for Automaticity? One pre-prerequisites is to Mathematize children's world and they will begin to see the world mathematically! The term mathematize has emerged to express the importance of helping children engage with mathematics around them. We are hoping that parents and early childhood teachers will begin to look at the world through a 'math lens'. And as adults, we offer feedback that helps children see the math underlying these situations and that we are purposefully inviting the children to take an active role in problem solving. (Big Ideas of Early Mathematics) Simply stated 'Mathematics is actually an activity of mathematizing the world!' (Freuendenthal, Fosnot) They will find joy, amazement, and wonder in math! They will not be anxious about Math! Math anxiety will greatly decrease and the love for math will dramatically increase! Outcome-Kids are available to learn math and be able to think like mathematicians!
This video will use the book 'Used Any Numbers Lately' to ground the understanding that numbers are all around us with different applications and not used just for computation! A great way to introduce 'number' to our youngest Mathematicians! And don't forget to 'Take the Challenge'!
