Unlocking AI's Secrets: How Explainable AI Demystifies the Blackbox 🤖

The huge potential of AI is obvious to everyone. Some estimations see as far as $15 trillion in opportunities. Yet, AI is growing in complexity, sophistication and autonomy and the decision-making process is being done by an “Algorithmic Blackbox”. This means that we don’t know how and why the algorithms arrive at their decisions. This is crucial when it comes to critical decisions, for instance in the healthcare industry. There, we don’t trust in a decision made by AI, at least not yet.
Luckily, there has been recent technological developments paving the way for more confidence in AI by understanding the rationale of how the algorithms arrive at their recommendations or decisions. The novel technology is referred to as “Explainable AI or XAI”.
In this talk we will shed light on the technical rationale behind XAI, the difference between AI and XAI and present a use case in the medical sector.
