This is the last video of 2021. It has been an interesting year for CrypTool 2 (CT2) and this YouTube channel. We released two stable CT2 versions and added a lot of components to CT2. In parallel to this, we created many interesting videos about cryptologic topics and released these on this channel. We got a lot of nice and helpful feedback, for CT2 as well as for the channel videos :-) Thank you for that!
In this video, we present the first version of a new CT2 component (Symbol Cipher) which right now allows to encrypt text using a musical cipher created by German orentialist, mathematican, and cryptograph Daniel Schwenter.
Using his cipher (and something else :-)), we created a ciphertext. The first one, who sends the correct plaintext to cryptool2(AT)gmx.net will win a copy of Helen Foché Gaines book "Cryptanalysis – a study of ciphers and their solution" :-)
We hope that you have a good start of 2022 and enjoy some free time with your family!
