🔹 DoS Attack (Denial-of-Service)
A single machine overloads a target (website/server) with requests, making it unavailable to legitimate users.

🔹 DDoS Attack (Distributed Denial-of-Service)
Instead of one machine, thousands (or millions!) of infected devices (botnets) attack the target at once, making it much harder to stop!

✅ DDoS – Multiple attackers, harder to block

🔻 Mirai Botnet (2016) – Took down major websites like Twitter, Netflix
🔻 GitHub Attack (2018) – 1.35 Tbps of traffic!

🔥 How to Protect Yourself?
✔️ Use rate limiting and firewalls
✔️ Deploy DDoS protection services (Cloudflare, AWS Shield, etc.)
✔️ Monitor unusual traffic patterns
