About this video
I've never seen a market like this! The Biggest Market in Roseau on the island of Dominica absolutely blew me away with its amazing food, culture, history, and people. The bustling market was filled with incredible Caribbean Food and Street Food. I could have stayed there for ages just wandering through the streets.
With another morning on the tropical island of Dominica ahead of me, I kicked off my
day with a market tour of its capital, Roseau!
BOLOβS MOBILE: At the Boloβs Mobile cart outside, I got a saltfish and herring
sandwich made with a hot dog bun. The fluffy bun and briny meat were fantastic with
the pepper sauce! I also enjoyed a passion fruit and sorrel juice.
ROSEAU MARKET: Inside the market, we saw lots of vendors selling a variety of things:
clothing, household items, and fresh produce. I tried some delicious crab backs and
bush rum, sugarcane, tender coconut and coconut water, cow skin, saltfish & bake, and
pommecythere juice. Everything was fantastic!
COCONUT VENDOR: We then drove to a coconut vendor with a truck full of coconuts.
The coconut was monstrous and full of water and meat. It was the sweetest coconut
water Iβd ever had in my life, and the meat was sweet, too!
FOOTBALL HOUSE: This building also houses the Dominica Football Association
offices. Itβs the only place on the island where you can buy authentic Dominica jerseys. I
bought one for about $40 USD!
FRESHWATER LAKE AND TRAFALGAR FALLS: From there, we drove uphill through
the jungle to Freshwater Lake, the largest lake on the island. You can swim and kayak
there, but obey the signs for your safety. Then, we drove to Trafalgar Falls, which are
twin waterfalls in the jungle. It takes 10 minutes to hike through the rainforest to reach
them. Theyβre spectacular!
