U.S. military activity increased at the former Roosevelt Roads naval base in Puerto Rico on Saturday (Nov 29), as tensions rise between Washington and Caracas. Reuters footage shows personnel unloading equipment from cargo planes, along with sightings of a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, three MV-22 Ospreys, and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter circling the area.
The base—once one of the world’s largest U.S. naval facilities—has become a key hub for regional operations. The activity comes shortly after President Donald Trump declared that the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela should be considered "closed in its entirety," though U.S. officials say they were unaware of any active enforcement operations.
The Pentagon has not commented on Trump’s announcement, and the White House has yet to provide further clarification. The situation continues to evolve as construction and runway work at Roosevelt Roads signal expanded U.S. capability in the region.
