U.S. Marines Engage in Intense Street Fighting During Fallujah Battle 🇺🇸

Fallujah, 40 miles (64 kilometres) west of Baghdad, was the centrepiece of the Sunni Muslim insurgency that had stymied U.S. efforts to secure Iraq.

Most of Fallujah’s 200,000 to 300,000 residents fled the city before the U.S. assault. Civilian casualties numbered around 800, while the Marines suffered 95 KIA, and insurgent forces around 2,000 in the Allied victory
