Types of Crystal Oscillators:
The Crystal Oscillators are inherently quite stable compared to other types of oscillators.
Depending on the temperature stability, aging rate, and the required tunability, the different types of crystal oscillators are used in different applications.

Mainly there are four different types of crystal oscillators:
1) Normal Crystal Oscillators (XO)
2) Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO)
3) Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO)
4) Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO)

Crystal Oscillator:
Normal Crystal Oscillators are used in applications that do not demand very precise frequency stability.

VCXO (Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator):
The voltage-controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXO) are used in applications where there is a need to tune the frequency. They are similar to VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator), but offer better temperature stability.

TXCO (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator):
The temperature-compensated crystal oscillators are used in applications that demand high-temperature stability. In this type of crystal oscillator, using a temperature sensor (thermistor), the inside temperature of the crystal oscillator is measured and accordingly, the frequency of the crystal is adjusted by changing the control voltage to the varactor diode.

OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator):
In OCOX, the crystal oscillator temperature is kept constant by keeping it within the mini internal oven. These type of Crystal Oscillators offers very high-temperature stability and low aging rate.
