Libya’s army chief of staff, Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, was killed after a plane departing Turkey’s capital Ankara, crashed while en route to Tripoli on December 23, Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah confirmed. Turkish officials said radio contact with the aircraft was lost around 40 minutes into the flight after it requested an emergency landing. Turkish emergency teams rushed to a crash site in the Haymana district near Ankara.
