Transitioning from Academic Research to Industry Deployment of Cryptography with Yehuda Lindell

Yehuda Lindell (Coinbase) describes his experiences moving from pure academic research to building a startup to deploying advanced cryptography at Coinbase. Yehuda first discusses some of the business challenges that can arise when building a startup based on “new” cryptography. Second, he considers the different mindset a cryptographer needs when deploying real solutions that protect real people’s data and money.

About the presenter
Yehuda Lindell is the Head of Cryptography at Coinbase. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Unbound Security and a professor of Computer Science at Bar-Ilan University. Yehuda’s research is mainly focused on the theoretical and applied aspects of secure multiparty computation (MPC).
