TRAIN DREAMS: AFI FEST Chat with Bentley, Edgerton & Cast 🚆

Following a screening at AFI FEST 2025 presented by Canva, director and screenwriter Clint Bentley, actor and executive producer Joel Edgerton, and actors William H. Macy and Kerry Condon joined audiences for a conversation about their new film TRAIN DREAMS, moderated by Pete Hammond, Chief Film Critic at Deadline.

Adapted from Denis Johnson’s acclaimed novella, TRAIN DREAMS follows Robert Grainier (Joel Edgerton), a logger in the Pacific Northwest whose life spans love, loss and the transformation of a frontier world. As Grainier navigates an ever-changing landscape of labor, isolation and fleeting connection, his story unfolds with lyrical beauty and emotional depth. Featuring cinematography by Adolpho Veloso and an evocative score by Bryce Dessner, Clint Bentley’s impressionistic film captures the sweep of a man’s lifetime with the intimacy of memory and the grandeur of myth. The supporting cast includes Felicity Jones, Clifton Collins Jr. and William H. Macy, with narration by Will Patton.
