Tragic Accident: Marshal Vasily Elizarov Dies in 2016 Omsk Autocross Crash 🚗

Marshal Vasily Elizarov was killed during the final round of the 2016 Russian Autocross Cup, held at Autodrome Amurskaya, in Omsk, on Sunday, 02 October 2016. The event was organized by the Federation of Automobile Sports of Zabaykalsky Kray.<br /><br />During the race the blue, number 37 VAZ-2017 of Vyacheslav Kholmogorov - a 39-year old from Chita, Zabaykalskiy Kray - left the road and spun. It was then rammed by the car driven by Nikolay Kumanek, 38, from Tyumen. Kholmogorov's VAZ flew though the air and was sent into a raised platform - a "control tower" - from which marshals attended the race.<br /><br />Two marshals who were standing at that platform were severely injured. One of them, Vasily Elizarov, 54, died shortly after the crash on the way to a hospital in Omsk. <br /><br />R.I.P
