Torn Between Two Lovers 1976 Mary MacGregor

Mary MacGregor was born in 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She started studying piano at age 6 and sang with bands during her teenage years. After college, she toured the country and caught Peter Yarrow’s attention, eventually touring as his backup vocalist.
MacGregor has said she didn’t like her hit song "Torn Between Two Lovers," mainly because she felt little sympathy for the woman in the lyrics who confesses her affair and begs her husband to stay. She also explained that her frequent performances kept her away from home, straining her marriage and indirectly contributing to their separation. Despite this, she acknowledged the song’s popularity and its connection with many listeners.

She is retired, remarried, has two children, and lives in California.
